Why women? Women are at War with Themselves. Of everything I could choose to photograph, most anything would be less complex, less tugging on the strings of my soul, less late night reassuring that ‘yes that outfit is great’ and ‘no, it doesn’t matter that you have that pimple on your chin’, less standing guard against those negative thoughts that you are manifesting, and less reminding that you are deserving of this experience …less emotional rollercoasters.
In spite of that truth, I choose to go to war. It was always my destiny to lean into the hard; to fight against the lies that we tell ourselves as women. Despite what I believed much of my life, women are incredibly wonderful and beautiful forms. Stop fighting with yourself. The worst thing is simply to see women at war with themselves.
Even with the tough-as-nails exterior we try to build around us– our spirits are raw and sensitive, our confidence (no matter how hard we work to sustain it) can waver when someone tampers with it, and sometimes we just don’t feel worthy….of anything.
I photograph women because I have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of a photograph. I’ve seen all of the lies a woman has told herself fade into the background as she sees an image that negates everything she’s ever been told she was (or wasn’t). I photograph women because I want to provide an experience and a place where I can tell a woman how beautiful she is, and allow her to feel safe enough to believe it.
I will never stop fighting for the version of you that I know exists. You’ll still have your days (don’t we all?)…but I have chosen to stand in the absolute truth that you can be confident and vulnerable at the same time, that the broken don’t stay broken forever, that the woman you’ve always dreamt of being already lives within you.
Even if you aren’t right where you want to be right now–with your body, with your relationships, with your job, or with your life in general–it doesn’t mean that where you are isn’t worth capturing, celebrating, and appreciating.
Our boudoir experiences are an invitation for you to be just exactly who you are are, in this moment. I do not photograph “sexy pictures”, “porn”, or “naked women.” I photograph raw, honest portraits of the shift–the truth of the very moments you realize you can loosen your grip on the lies you tell yourself, the moments you realize you can do anything. ?

Fine art boudoir photography does have to show a lot. For me, it is about showing off a clients details. Her eyes, the curve of her back, her neck, the ears, the decollate area, the check bones and much more. Creating art that you can see your unique beauty is important to me in showing how gorgeous you are! Ask me more about creating a fine art set of imagery for you during a your phone consultation and we can discuss ideas to create custom art for you.
Why or what is your reason for doing a boudoir session? I have ALWAYS had a low self esteem. I have never seen myself as beautiful, or sexy, or desirable. I typically do not like to be the subject in any photos because I don’t like what I see in them, so I have always disliked having any photos taken. Especially in photos with my VERY photogenic family, have always felt like the “ugly duckling”. To be honest doing a photo session – much less a boudoir session NEVER crossed my mind until I began to see Roosh’s beautiful photos and empowering statements in my FB scrolling. I can’t even tell you the reason why I put my name in the mix for a chance to win a session. I am happy I did though. I didn’t win the session, but I did win myself. I decided to invest in myself for once and take a chance and push my negative thoughts down. I want to see what someone else sees. I want to see myself as beautiful, sexy, and desirable. The expectation of myself was low – but I was so wrong. This was to be the experience FOR ME.
Did you have any fears about your session? Were they relevant? FEAR – there is always fear of the unknown. There are always doubts. I was fearful of how I would see myself. I was not afraid of the process. I was comfortable from the beginning of my connection to her. My fear was more of how I would view myself than the actual session.
Did you have any concerns regarding your size/shape? Feel free to share your size or concerns. Did we help you address those during your session or photography you in a way that your size/shape was not a concern? What was the outcome? I am middle age. Wrinkles, lumps, bumps, rolls, stretch marks, flabby skin, surgical scars, all of these concerns were there. You know what? NONE of that mattered! This process and meeting these women helped me transform from the ugly duckling that I saw myself as to the beautiful swan that was always inside of me. This transformation was was amazing. None of my concerns mattered in the end. Roosh and Lyssa were amazing and put my fears and concerns to rest.
What was your favorite part of your session? Its hard to decide what part was my most favorite. The actual posing and being center stage I think was so exhilarating. The encouragement and positive comments really brought me out of my shell. This was so much fun!
Did our session planning guide help you prepare for your session? ABSOLUTELY! The planning guide was very helpful. I still use it – just as a reminder to make sure to put a little self care into my routine for me. We deserve to paper ourselves. Just because I am usually last to get my own time doesn’t mean I should neglect myself. This guide helps me remember to care for myself.
Would you do a session again? I CANT WAIT!! DO IT. I can honestly say that this experience was the most invigorating, empowering, self-esteem building, exciting, daring adventure I have ever had. This is one of those things you ask why you waited so long to invest in yourself. I cannot express enough what this meant to my mental health. To see how beautiful in the eyes of someone else, and to get a glimpse of what my husband sees but does not verbalize was eye-opening. I would shout this from the top of the highest mountain to everyone to do this. This was such an experience.
Did you do a 1-1 call with me prior to your session and did you find it helpful? The 1-1 was very informative. An opening became available the week following my decision to do this – I knew if I didn’t grab the opportunity, I would chicken out. Roosh was available for any concerns and questions. The information provided was amazing, and only added to the excitement!
What made you decide to book with Roosh? How did you find your time with Roosh, the Photographer? Was she able to help you calm down, let go of your nerves, let go of your fears? And were you able to relax and enjoy your session? What would you tell another woman that is considering doing a session? Roosh was just amazing! I cannot express what a genuine, caring human being she is. This is of course is her business, but you also know right away what a passion she has for this. The reason she does this is to connect and highlight the person. She brings out the person in the beautiful photos she takes. I will admit it was awkward at first – the unknown.. but it was so amazing. The conversation during makeup/hair and just getting to know each other was comforting and calming and soon enough I was completely comfortable. After about ten shots it was easy and I was able to be at ease and enjoy the experience. Before I knew it, the session was over. It was so much fun.
What did you think of your final images/products? Of course they are amazing! I am just mind blown at the finished product. I just know that I will do this again. I love feeling the boost to my self esteem, and to be able to look at myself and be amazed at what I see. Its good to step back and not compare yourself to others. Its good to value yourself and know your enough.
Why or what is your reason for doing a boudoir session? I always wanted to do this as a gift for my husband. I didn’t realize until I was there that I was doing it for me too. I’m a stay at home mom and I never really get the chance to feel sexy or like I am doing something for me.
Did you have any fears about your session? Were they relevant? Like most women I was nervous about how to pose my body and face. I was afraid that I would look like I was trying too hard to be sexy. Her advice made me relax and let me go with the flow.
Did you have any concerns regarding your size/shape? Feel free to share your size or concerns. Did we help you address those during your session or photography you in a way that your size/shape was not a concern? What was the outcome? I am plus size and of course going in I was a little concerned if she could capture me in a way that was flattering. Once starting the shoot all my worries left. She knew how to make my body look better than I even expected.
What was your favorite part of your session? She was so easy to trust and talk to. She made the experience fun and not scary or intimidating.I also loved being able to show a different side of myself.
Did our session planning guide help you prepare for your session? Yes, it was such a big help. It answered any and all questions you would have. I had to ask very few questions about the process that weren’t answered in the guide.
Did you do a 1-1 call with Roosh prior to your session? I didn’t do a call but she was very prompt in replying to my questions via email.
Would you do a session again? I will defiantly be booking another session with her in the future. I would say go in with an open mind and trust her. I brought 2 outfits and I really liked one better than the other so she had me take pictures in my least favorite outfit first. I ended up picking majority of my pictures in that outfit instead of the one I thought I was gonna like.
What made you decide to book with Roosh? How did you find your time with Roosh, the Photographer? Was she able to help you calm down, let go of your nerves, let go of your fears? And were you able to relax and enjoy your session? Anything else? What would you tell another woman that is considering doing a session? I loved her portfolio. Roosh was amazing, in her guides she answered all the questions I didn’t even know to ask. I was a little nervous but she made me feel confident and sexy. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend. The whole process was quick and easy, I could have stayed there all day getting my picture taken.
What did you think of your final images/products? I love my pictures. I liked them when we were viewing them after the shoot. Seeing them on the computer is completely different to seeing them retouched and in the album. They went from good to amazing. My husband was speechless!
Did you use a pre-session payment plan with out studio and do you recommend it? Yes I used it and would definitely recommend it.
