The Truth is…

Many client’s call us wanting to do a session, but fear they are not in their 20’s anymore. But the truth is, most of our clients are middle-aged and we do have a lot of ladies that come celebrate their birthdays with us. They are pampered with hair and makeup and then the shoot. Getting to have a beautiful keepsake at the end of it all is just a perk!

“During the shoot, she makes you feel so beautiful and supported. You don’t even care that you’re in your underwear – or less! The shoot itself was really fun. Her finished products are very high-quality. My finished photos are absolutely stunning! The album cover is so beautiful, and if you purchase digitals, you’ll get a gorgeous USB drive with all of your pictures. She also uses very nice packaging. Before the shoot, I was a little nervous of how this was all going to go because I’m 50 years old, and a little more fluffy than I’d prefer. But none of that mattered, because Roosh made me look like I was in the damn VS catalog! I could still totally see myself in every picture, though. Seriously ladies, if you are interested in boudoir photography (and you absolutely should be interested), then go see Roosh. She will make you look and feel like an absolute goddess. I promise you’ll look at your finished photos and think, “Wow, that’s me!”

Self-love is a huge topic in this business. I often tell you how a boudoir experience will directly affect, support, and further you on your journey to truly love yourself.

…but WHY is self love important? The BIGGEST misconception of ladies who inquire with us is that doing a boudoir session for YOURSELF makes you SELFISH.

Yes babe, I hear you. I know you have kids, student loans, bills in general, and a front seat on a never-ending guilt train whenever you spend money on yourself. EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who has ever walked into my studio had ALL the same feelings.

BUT–self love and feelings of worthiness/value/sexiness is VERY important. Self-love is quite literally the foundation on which you base EVERYTHING on. How you FEEL about YOU is the springboard that forms your opinions, beliefs, behaviors…EVERYTHING. 

When you are able to view yourself through kinder eyes, it TRANSFORMS how you see EVERYTHING else. When you truly accept yourself, you learn what you will/will not accept from others; you begin to CONFIDENTLY teach others how to treat you.

And once you’ve got a hang on your own journey, you can begin to lift up your sisters, best friends, moms, etc. It’s so true: a woman who knows her worth can handle ANYTHING that life throws at her. That is why boudoir is my inhale, exhale…my life. I KNOW the power of that moment you ACTUALLY realize you are strong, beautiful, feminine, fierce. I will not stop until every single one of you has had that moment.

Meet Christie. She is almost 43 this year and this is the message she sent me. She is also a past client from about 5 years ago. It isn’t uncommon for clients to return because their session made them feel beautiful in a way nothing else can.

“I have started to feel a bit down recently (I’m turning 43) and caught myself feeling negative about how my body has changed in recent years. In our Northern Virginia boudoir studio, age skin color and size are not something you need to worry about. I am a professional. I don’t mean to brag, but I have seen thousands of naked women. A body is a body and I am just an artist trying to show you-your unique beauty. Whether you choose to do it with or without clothes on thats up to you. I don’t care, I’ll make you look sexy in a turtleneck if I have to!

Is a boudoir experience right for you? You’ve probably been wondering, Oh, hey! I see you over there—sitting on the fence— trying to decide if a boudoir experience is right for you. While you are mulling it over, I want to drop a few truth bombs your way:

1. Do it for you. Whether or not you have a significant other, a boudoir experience should be for you, first and foremost. This is a very special experience designed to celebrate the woman you are–your accomplishments, the spaces you need to heal, and a golden opportunity for you to reconnect with the side of you that you think you’ve lost.

2. You do not need to change. You are ready for this experience just as you are. You don’t need to lose weight, get Botox, or get surgery first. You are beautiful NOW, you are worthy now, and you are deserving of this now.

3. You won’t be the one. So often, potential clients make the comment that they will be the one person I can’t “make” beautiful. Here’s the thing babe: I don’t MAKE anyone beautiful. My general rule is that I don’t Photoshop anything permanent on your body. Photoshop does WAY more harm than good. I don’t want you to see your final images and think “Oh I look beautiful because she photoshopped me.” I want you to see your images and see YOU. I have never photographed a professional model. All of the women you see on this page are REAL women–and they all had insecurities/fears just like you do. My expertise really shines in dynamite posing/lighting/coaching of expressions (this is why you can’t hire just ANYONE to shoot this).
