“Do I have to wear lingerie?!”
NOPE!
There’s definitely a common misconception around Boudoir that you have to wear sexy lingerie or be completely nude in order to have a session. Although, some of our clients decide not to wear lingerie at all!
Something like high-waisted panties in an oversized sweater is a super cute cozy comfy outfit look that is definitely more modest. Another common favorite is a sports bra or bandeau top of some type with jeans and maybe even a Calvin set underneath.
Stores like Savage X Fenty make lingerie dresses that are super comfortable and more on the modest side and it’s something that our clients have continued to bring in and we actually enjoy shooting quite a bit !
And of course a super cute button-down t-shirt and high socks with some panties on is a great alternative to traditional lingerie as well.
Our client closet is not stocked with non traditional outfit choices so we definitely want to encourage you to make sure to bring me the added items if it’s something that you’re interested in wearing during your session. What to Wear
My clients often tell me that figuring out what to wear is one of the hardest parts for them. The great news is that you don’t have to go too far. We provide you with our session planning guide with places to shop, what to buy and where to buy to make the entire process easier. For example, here, we used a simple lacey, sheer robe. It gives some coverage and can show a little or a lot, it’s all up to you!

What to Wear
As I think about every woman I’ve photographed, I’m reminded once again how beautiful it is to sit with the broken. I’m reminded that no woman has it “all together”; that we all harbor deep pain/self doubt–that we all have our struggles.
Though every woman I meet is in a different place in life: in college, newly married, mom of a newborn, mom of four, divorced, ages 21-64, and in a range of careers–when I looked into each set of eyes, I see so many of the same desires. Women in need of healing, women in search of themselves, women ready to put the self-loathing narrative that plays in their minds to bed once and for all.
Don’t ever think that you have to have all of your “problems” figured out before you finally sit in front of my lens, and don’t expect to be miraculously “healed” when you walk out of my studio.
It’s not my job to “fix” you babe, because fixing isn’t what you need. It’s my job to remind you that no matter what heavy burdens you carry, no matter how rough the sea that you navigate daily– at the end of it all, you stand. No circumstance, mistake, regret–nothing can change your worth, your beauty, or your purpose to do so much good in this world.
Today, I want you to lean into the places of your brokenness, and rest in the truth that being broken is a chance to to fully understand the gravity of your strength, to dream bigger, to re-build; sit with the broken to find out who you are and who you want to be.
